Welcome Home
Our goal as your host during this vacation of a lifetime is to make you feel as welcomed and comfortable in our spaces as you do in your own. Travel is tiring, and as great as the adventures you will enjoy in Sedona are going to be, if you didn’t have a soft place to land at the end of the day, would you really consider this a great escape? We don’t think so, and as you step inside our Stay Sedona villas for the very first time, their warmth, their comforts, and yes, their style will make you immediately feel at home. Drop your suitcases where you stand, kick off your shoes and move further inside, exploring the beauty that reflects the wonders of the Southwest and our love for all our guests.
Open concept floor plans will give you an immediate impression of all the public spaces, starting with the comforts found in the living spaces. Anchored by furnishings that are both comfortable and sturdy, the sofas invite you to sink into their depths and let the aches and pains of travel dissipate. Turn on the televisions that may be either smart ones streaming your favorite series or cable access ones with all the channels you are used to at home and relax for a few more minutes. The remote will be within arm’s reach, (with batteries that have not died!) a blanket may be tossed across the back of the couch for more snuggle moments, and there is plenty of time ahead of you to be productive; these few minutes at the beginning of your stay will just be the start of treasured moments you will enjoy throughout your vacation. Reading a good book in a chair by the window until the natural light that fills our villas has to be replaced by artificial light. Start a fire in the fireplace or wood burning stove, fixing a cup of hot cocoa and chatting with the family on a chilly winter night, or head out to the back deck in the summertime and grill your family meal on the provided barbecue on a warm summer’s eve.
Fenced-in yards offer safety and security for your fur child in our pet friendly villas, and incredible views of the Sedona landscape, often with the red rocks staring down into the yard, offer serenity and peace to everyone within sight. Begin a new tradition, one that forces you to slow down and breathe by coming out to these spots at sunset and raise a toast to the kaleidoscope of colors that take over our skies. Arizona sunsets are amongst the most beautiful in the world, and your ringside seat deserves to be acknowledged!
Back inside, there is still more to explore, and our tour continues with the space we often consider the heart of the home. No, we are not talking about the kitchen, as we at Stay Sedona feel that the true heart lies in the dining spaces where families and friends gather for conversations, meals, and on vacation, the opportunity to play board games and live life unplugged for a while. The kitchen or dining room table at home is often where life’s biggest moments play out, and that happens on vacation as well. These cushioned chairs are where the big announcement that your daughter got into her first-choice college will be made, where you learn that your son may have met that person he wants to spend his life with. The sturdy surfaces of the dining room tables have witnessed tears of joy and sadness, have heard uncontrollable giggles and shouts of laughter, and have experienced quieter moment when mom sits with a coffee before everyone else wakes, staring through windows providing incredible views, and musing about the wonders of her Arizona vacation.
The kitchens of our villas, located just steps away from the dining spaces, are filled with everything you need to make a meal (minus the food) and will provide more moments of fun and joy. Prepare the family meal on updated appliances, keep the coffee flowing with coffee makers and Keurigs, and enjoy chilled beverages on the hottest days of the year. Breakfast bars will offer a space for the kiddos to sit and snack, for dads to perch as they tell another dad joke, and for mom to relax while the rest of the family cleans up after the meal.
Sleep Well
Sleeping is not always easy, especially when you are trying to do so in a new spot, but the bedrooms of our Sedona villas are designed to give you one of the best night’s sleep of your life. Slide between the silky soft linens and let your head drop to pillows that offer just the right amount of firmness and drop into a deep and peaceful sleep. Some of our bedrooms may offer televisions to help ease the transition from wide awake to sound asleep and others may provide padded headboards that enable you to prop yourself against them and read a few more chapters of the book you were enjoying earlier in the day. Maybe a hot bath before bed will help lull you into the proper state of relaxation and ensuite baths make it easy to do so. Whatever it takes to help you fall asleep, when you wake up the next morning, feeling rested and ready to face a new day of Arizona adventures, you may find yourself walking with an extra spring in your step. Rest is important and we highlight that importance by providing the most comfortable beds in the state!
Sedona Fun
Here’s a fun fact for first time visitors to Sedona. Did you know that the Sedona landscape was once ocean floor hundreds of millions of years ago? Today, the nearest ocean lies in California or Mexico, and the countryside is more famous for its red rocks and vortexes, but it is very possible that at some point a giant megalodon was swimming in the very spot you took your morning hike! The beauty of the countryside will make you want to spend as much time outside as possible, hiking, fishing, or even riding mountain bikes through the area. Rent a mountain bike from Thunder Mountain Bikes (they offer children’s bikes if you are traveling with your family) or grab your pole and head over to Oak Creek to enjoy a few blissful hours of nature and maybe you will bring home the night’s dinner! Grilling up a freshly caught bass is one of life’s simpler pleasures, one that can be experienced during your Sedona getaway with Stay Sedona. Golf is a big deal in Arizona and although we are quite a bit cooler than the lower areas of the state, Sedona does provide about 278 days of sunshine every year, ensuring that your time on the links will be wonderful! Seven Canyons Golf Club is one of the most popular courses in the state and is bordered by the red rocks that our town is famous for, so don’t be surprised if you get a little distracted by the views! The bar and grille attached to the course will give you plenty of ways to get distracted from your sorrows if your game doesn’t turn out as well as you hope!
Warm and Welcoming Sedona Villa Rentals
You won’t always find the warmth that is an integral part of our homes in an ordinary rental, and you definitely won’t find it in a sterile and cramped hotel room. Follow the path created by high-end flooring into the kitchen and take a moment to look around. Custom cabinetry, granite countertops, and high-end appliances fill the space, but the warmth offered is from more than the décor. This room is designed to take the chores out of meal prep and feels happiest when filled with the loving members of your family! Dining areas serve multiple purposes, offering a space to eat, chat, or pull out the board games that made your youth so much fun! In the living rooms, comfortable furnishings are the perfect spots to read, watch television, or close your eyes for “just a minute!” Naps are an important part of every vacation and our furniture makes it easy to fall into a quick and refreshing sleep. Neutral décor in our Sedona villas are designed to keep from interfering with your sleep; close the door to the world, slip between high thread count sheets, and lose yourself in happy dreams! Your days spent exploring the magic and beauty of Sedona will continue in the morning, and your sleep will recharge you for the adventures to come.
Beer and Wine
We have previously mentioned the Verde Valley Wine Trail and how Sedona is a stop on that trail, but beer lovers should not be worried they won’t be able to find their brews during their Arizona vacation. Oak Creek Brewery offers a couple of locations in town, one at 2050 Yavapai Drive and the other in the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, 336 AZ-179 Suite D201. Try a flight of brews to go along with your plate of ribs at the Tlaquepaque branch or simply enjoy the night sky on the patio by the fire pit with your favorite beer! Both spots offer a casual vibe and a wait staff that knows their stuff; Arizona is an up and comer in the brewery world as well, and the choices go down easy!
If you are a wine drinker and your traveling partner prefers beer, Tlaquepaque might be your ideal location. The Secret Garden Café at Tlaquepaque, 336 State Route 179, Ste F101, has a delicious selection of Arizona wines guaranteed to make your taste buds stand up and take notice and also offers craft brews, handmade cocktails, and the best margaritas in the state! Sip and savor as you sample items off their happy hour menu, including Hummus Pizza and Queso Diva, and if you have done some shopping beforehand, enjoy these moments off your feet as you go through your purchases!
A Taste of Sedona
Although our Sedona villas offer fully equipped kitchens and kitchenettes, it would truly be a shame to come all this way and not experience a true taste of Sedona! The restaurants in the area give guests an authentic flavor of the Southwest, but also offer other international delights, and of course, many of your favorite all-American meals!
89 Agave, located at 254 N Highway 89A, presents spicy and flavorful Mexican meals that will haunt your dreams long after you have returned to your Midwest home town, and their prickly pear margaritas are destined to be your newest obsession! Hiro’s Sushi & Japanese Kitchen, 1730 AZ-89A, is famous for their deliciously fresh sushi and innovative Japanese entrees, while those perhaps seeking a romantic meal from another ancient country will fall in love over the classic Italian dishes served at Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante, located at 2321 AZ-89A. Offering upscale food and the most romantic of ambiances, this last restaurant is perfect for a special occasion. For American food with an interesting twist, the Cowboy Club Grille offers Bison Pot Roast, Elk Chops, and an Angus Beef hamburger that fills all the empty places in your stomach as it feeds your need for a juicy and delicious patty of meat. Oaxaca, a Sedona staple for over eight decades, is where we go when we are craving some super spicy habanero salsa and an icy margarita that just make the summer heat that much more bearable!
Speaking of salsa, you may not realize how easy it is to make your own, so you can have some on hand for those moments you decide to stay in and enjoy our Stay Sedona amenities. Simply purchase tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, and lime from the grocery store and throw it all together in the blender that is more than likely sitting on the kitchen counter! Add more tomatoes and less jalapeños if you live life on the milder side, and if you love the heat, substitute a single habanero pepper for one of the jalapeños and let the good taste begin! If you are unsure of what your tolerance level is, start with a single jalapeño and add more to taste. If you absolutely can’t handle the heat, remember that most of the heat is in the seeds, and if you carefully remove them, (we recommend wearing gloves) you will have a mild treat that you can continue to make please your family with after you return home!
When the Sun Sets Behind the Red Rocks
Unlike many tourist towns throughout the world, Sedona does not roll up the sidewalks when night falls, and even though our nightlife might not compare to those in larger cities like New York or Los Angeles, we like to think there is still a lot of fun to be had here! Find the perfect pour of Guinness at Mooney’s Irish Pub, located at 671 AZ-179 in the Hillside Shopping Center. Offering live entertainment, your favorite Irish pub grub, darts, karaoke, and an ambience filled with fun and laughter, Mooney’s may become your regular spot during your Sedona sojourn! For those who brought their dancing shoes on their journey to the Southwest, the Sound Bites Grill, located at 101 N State Route 89A has the dance floor on which you can perfect your moves. Also offering patio seating and views of the Red Rocks that we can’t live without, your night on the town promises to be one you will never forget—especially if you try their nachos! We would eat them for every meal if we could and never tire of their taste.
All Those Stars
When the sun sinks behind the mountains, the magic of nighttime in Sedona will entice you to step outside and lose yourself in the beauty of another night in paradise. Every home we offer is different, so depending on the property you rent you may find yourself relaxing in one of our Sedona rentals with a pool under the velvety skies alight with a billion stars, or simply sitting on the porch of your Sedona villa with the rest of your family, laughing, talking, and feeling the mystical properties of the night in your soul.
